Encourage your family, friends, class, youth group or any other group of prospective change makers to host a supply drive! We accept in-kind and monetary donations. Our goal is to provide shoebox size boxes to filled with a toy, hygiene supplies, and school supplies for the over three hundred children served by our two partner organizations (Ahaspora and Children's Heatlh International).
We partner with local businesses and community groups to build the personal libraries of children.
Join us or host your own Read4Change event. We know that early childhood literacy is important, so we're conducting read-aloud events where each child walks away with a brand new copy of a text that promotes diversity. It's also an opportunity to teach children about the power of giving to those in need.
If you would like to host a read-aloud event, please send an email to contactus@learningtoemerg.org. We'll partner with you to host an event that children will love while also sharing strategies and tips to help caregivers engage in their child's education.
Thank you to all those who were able to join us for our first Community Workshop. The online parent/student workshop, in partnership with Christ Gospel Church of Silver Spring, Maryland, was held on July 9, 2021. Over 30 participants joined to hear an interactive read-aloud of the book Free to be Uniquely Me. Participants also heard educators share information about ways to improve comprehension and fluency, strategies for developing our social-emotional health, and ways to make reading fun and engaging over the summer and throughout the year.
If you would like information on our next Community Workshop or if you would like us to host a workshop for your organization, please send an email to contactus@learningtoemerg.org.
Thank you to all those who were able to join us for our first Let's Talk Seminar. The seminar, in collaboration with CGMI, titled Our Children and the Pandemic: A Conversation about the Academic, Social, Emotional, and Physical Well-Being of Our Children was held on June 5, 2021. We discussed ways to mitigate the impact of the pandemic on both academics and mental health. We also discussed community wrap-around services, early interventions, and ways to help children develop healthy lifestyles.
If you would like information on our next Let's Talk Seminar, please send an email to contactus@learningtoemerg.org.
